First Parish Visit

Kinlochleven2.JPGAs I drove into Kinlochleven on Sunday 27th February I felt both really excited and nervous about meeting new people and giving my first talk to introduce my role in the Diocese as Youth Officer. During Mass I spoke for a few minutes after the homily, inviting people to pray with me for the intercession of St  Mary of the Cross. and recalling Pope Benedict’s address to  young people and his call to holiness.  I met the first 2 children  in the photograph, who both contributed  to the Mass.

Afterwards I travelled back to Ballachulish to join in the parish Mass. There was a gathering in the parish house of those interested in hearing about the work of the Youth Officer. About ten children, with their families and other parishioners chatted  about a way forward for the benefit of the young people in the area.  It was a lovely morning and a positive start to my work.

Everyone hopes for new ideas for our youth and it’s only a matter of time before things are realised.   I see such hope and look forward to sharing more stories here as things happen. I thank the good people I met on Sunday and look forward to visiting more parishes soon.

PS Watch This Space for an overview of the feedback from the questionnaires throughout the Diocese.
